The MCS 1000 Irrigation Control System

Frequently Asked Question's

Q. How does the MCS 1000 Irrigation Control System work?

The MCS 1000 Irrigation Control System (MCS 1000) works on a zone-by-zone basis by over-riding the irrigation in each zone whenever sufficient moisture is present in the soil to promote proper growth. The MCS 1000 is fully adjustable to allow each irrigation zone to receive the precise amount of water as called for by the demographics of that zone. For example, an irrigation zone exposed to a great deal of sunlight will generally require more irrigation than a zone where there is significant shade. With the MCS 1000, each zone can be easily adjusted to provide greater irrigation to the sunny zone and less to the shady zone.

Q. Do you have a patent?

Yes! the MCS 1000 moisture sensor is patented

Q. What kind of water saving can I expect?

Each property is different, but our customer's typically experience a 30% - 55% water savings. And, because we help eliminate the many problems associated with over-irrigation, we generally see an improvement in quality within a few short weeks of installation.

Q. What does it cost?

We offer several pricing plans and can even customize a plan for your unique needs. Once we are able to obtain certain basic information about your existing irrigation system and water usage, we will advise which makes the most sense for the property.

Q. You are running a cable in the ground. How much electricity is involved?

Very little. Your current irrigation system operates on 24 VAC (volts: alternating current). The MCS 1000 transforms that power into a much lower direct current. Suffice to say, no harm can occur to animals, people, or machinery due to the amount of direct current our product relies upon.

Q. I have a lot of money invested in my timers / controllers; do you interfere with them?

Our product does not interfere with your timers/controllers in any way at all. The MCS 1000 simply shuts down the irrigation valve(s) when a sufficient level of moisture is present in the soil to promote proper growth. Your timers/controllers will continue to run their entire pre-set cycle.

Q. I understand the MCS 1000 units connects to my valves, but do I have to install one on each valve or can I pick and choose the valves I want?

Each MCS 1000 Unit is designed to operate independently of each other; therefore, you can connect as many as you choose. To maximize your water and energy savings, however, one MCS 1000 unit should be connected to each valve.

Q. Is installation available ?

We will install the units for a fee or the customer can install the system. Either way, we recommend on-site technical support to insure proper installation and training of grounds personnel.

Q. Your product comes with 25' of cable - what if I need more or less?

We have tested our units with as much as 800 feet of cable with no deterioration of product performance. However, given the typical irrigation system layout, we believe 25' will suffice in the majority of situations, but where circumstances warrant, we can custom fit the cable for less or more than the standard 25'.

Q. What if one of the units breaks?

The MCS 1000 comes with a five-year limited warranty.

Q. Will you train our ground crew?

Yes! In fact we strongly recommend that one of our technicians be on-site to insure proper installation and training.

Q. What if I want to purposefully over-irrigate? Can I shut your system off?

Yes! Each MCS 1000 unit can be easily shut off to provide for purposeful over-irrigation and then easily re-set to again precisely control irrigation.
